July 12: ‘The Essence Of Eva’ premiere
On Saturday 12 July at 8 PM, ‘The Essence Of Eva’, the much-anticipated documentary
about the life of Eva Cassidy, will premiere at Galway Film Fleadh!

Featuring previously unheard songs, and exclusive archival footage, this documentary paints a vivid portrait of legendary singer Eva Cassidy, from the perspective of her family, friends, and fellow musicians. A woman whose soulful voice transcended genres and captivated audiences with its purity. Eva was able to get to the heart of every song she performed. Her interpretations of classic tunes, like ‘Over the Rainbow’ and ‘Fields of Gold’, are explored in depth, showcasing her ability to breathe new life into familiar songs with her multicoloured voice. A heart-tugging story about a talent gone too soon.

Alex and Malcolm interviewed more than thirty people for their film: Mick Fleetwood, Sting, a couple of Stonehenge musicians, Eva’s school friends Ruth and Celia. They have spoken to people who Eva performed with like Mary Ann Redmond, Ned Judy and Larry Melton. The Eva Cassidy band members Lenny Williams and Chris Biondo. Chuck Brown’s manager Tom Goldfogel and many, many more.
