After Ireland and Canada were introduced to The Essence of Eva, German Eva Cassidy fans can also enjoy the film about the life of this American singer. The Essence Of Eva will be shown three times at the 59th Hofer Film Festival at the end of October.
(text below in German)
Almost everyone who hears Eva Cassidy sing for the first time asks themselves two questions: who is this and why haven’t I known her before? The American singer who touched millions of hearts with her posthumous album Songbird did not experience her own fame. She died in 1996 as a versatile but unknown singer at the young age of 33 from skin cancer. Eva Cassidy was an authentic artist for whom only the very best was good enough. She turned away from the superficial world of show business where glitter and money are the norm. However, she performed well-known songs in such a musically concise and lyrically sincere way that they gained a new meaning.

The Essence Of Eva
Eva Cassidy was born in 1963 in America, but her mother Barbara is from Germany. In her hometown of Bad Kreuznach, she met Hugh Cassidy, who was stationed in Germany as an American soldier. While Barbara was pregnant with Eva, they emigrated to Washington DC in the United States. With the beautiful documentary The Essence Of Eva, the singer returns posthumously to Germany for a moment.

The Essence Of Eva ist dreimal beim 59.

I was a friend of Eva Cassidy. Thank You for producing this wonderful video. Do you know when the documentary will be shown in the United States?
I fell in love with Eva Cassidy’s voice, her music, her beautiful talent several years ago ~ the first time I heard her singing ~ a unique, wonderful, precious sound had me hooked. Her words, her gentle presentation, even her sometimes sad/longing voice drew me in. I had listened to her singing ~ a heartbreaking sound at times which held me in awe. I wish I had learned/heard of her earlier. Through her words and her voice, a beauty I’d never felt opened up in me. Now, each time I hear her music and lyrics, I send her Spirit peace and love and gratitude for all the beauty she has brought to this world. Thank you, Eva.
where in Canada can I see this now
Not anymore, hopefully in the future. It was only screened at the festival.
